To enable you to have more control over your search for relevant circulars, or to alternatively search for words or concepts, you could search within the following fields listed below:
Circular No.
In case you know the number of a particular Circular, this search is the one to go for. Just type the circular number in the respective field in the Circular Search section and click GO.
Note: Since this is an exact match search, a wrong addition of a bracket or a slash within the circular number could affect your search results.

File No.
In case you know the file number of a particular Circular, this search is appropriate for you. Type out the file number in the respective field in the Circular Search section to retrieve the relevant circular.
Note: Since this is an exact match search, a wrong addition of a bracket or a slash within the file number field could affect your search results.

Circular Date
To search for Circulars on the basis of their date of promulgation, use this field in the Circular Search Section. You can select the date format from the drop-down menu according to the way you want to enter the date in this field.

Subject
This field is the title /subject of the Circular. If one has a brief idea of what all is about the Circular or what is the issue or subject matter in consideration of the Circular.

Note: The more instances of a keyword in the Subject Field, the higher it appears in the result list.
Parent Act
If you want to search for a Circular on the basis of the Primary Legislation under which the circular has been notified, you need to type the name of the legislation in the "Parent Act" field in the Circular Search Form
If you want to further refine your search for Circular on the basis of a particular provision of the legislation, you need to type the name of the legislation in the "Parent Act" search field and thereafter type the Section / Provision number in the "Section" Field of the Circular Search.

Search by Laws

Search by Keyword
This field is used to search for the most relevant circulars on the basis of specific keywords, concepts or phrases that may be entered in this field. Whatever you choose to type on this field, you can specify the type of search in the next field of "Select Search Criteria" by opting for "Exact Phrase", "Any Words" or "Boolean Search".
Search by Exact Phrase
This search will give you circulars containing the exact phrase that you have entered in the "Keyword" field.
Search by Any Words
This will give you a list of circulars containing any of the words you have entered in the "Keyword" field.
Boolean (AND, OR, NOT, " ") Search
If you want to find circulars with more than one word or phrase, you use the Boolean operators.
If you want more than one phrase or word to appear in the retrieved circulars, put an AND between them. For example, to find circulars containing the phrase "copyright " as well as the word "piracy", type copyright AND piracy.
If, on the other hand, you want to find one term and / or another one, put an OR between them. For example, to find circulars those contain the words "treaty" or "convention" search for "treaty OR convention OR international agreement".
You can even put these two searches together - as in: "treaty or convention AND copyright and piracy".
